Resource Request

Fixing references and common medical problems!
Warning: for legal reasons, we must note that the Resource Exchange cannot fix any medical problems. But it can fix references.

Finding a source[edit]

Tips for finding a source yourself[edit]

  • Send a request to the author(s) of research papers for a copy of their paper by email.
  • Check what sources are available to you in The Wikipedia Library – editors active for at least six months with over 500 edits, at least 10 of them in the last month, and with no active blocks have immediate access to the Wikipedia Library Bundle.
    • Available databases in the bundle include: Gale, EBSCO, JSTOR, Oxford and ProQuest
  • Consider applying for access to additional Wikipedia Library sources at The Wikipedia Library Card Platform.
    • Additional databases include: Newspapers.com, NewspaperARCHIVE.com, Project MUSE, Taylor & Francis and much more.
  • Search for periodical titles in the Wikipedia Library database index at The Wikipedia Library/A–Z.
  • Check on Google Books, or your local library or national library may be able to obtain it through an interlibrary loan or subscription.
  • Search Google Scholar for archived copies of journals in institutional repositories.
  • Check whether your alma mater's library offers electronic document delivery services for alumni, if applicable.
  • If the article is paywalled, a browser extension may bypass the paywall. Try Unpaywall for academic journals or Bypass Paywalls Clean (Firefox, Chrome) for news websites.

Note that sites like Library Genesis (LibGen) and Sci-Hub offer direct, free access to a large range of publications, but there are legal questions around their use and neither the Wikimedia Foundation nor the Wikipedia community endorses them.

Making a request[edit]

  • A request may be an open question or you may ask for a specific journal, article or work.
  • All kinds of sources are possible here: newspapers, magazine article, databases, encyclopedias, court decisions, laws, books, etc.
  • We cannot perform full book copy requests due to copyright. Please ask for specific pages that relate to the article(s) you need them for.
  • You may contact research helpers directly or make a request on this page.
  • To receive email without disclosing your email address publicly, configure your email in Special:Preferences.
  • Provide as much detail as possible: a full citation with author, title, publisher, and date or identifiers like DOI, ISBN, ISSN, PMID, OCLC, etc.
  • Indicate which Wikipedia articles are being improved.
  • Once a request has been fulfilled add the {{Resolved}} template.
  • Filled requests are archived.
  • Requests unfilled after three months will be archived.

Fulfilling a request[edit]

  • Anyone may offer advice and fulfill requests.
  • Indicate which part or parts of the request is being handled so others do not duplicate your work.
  • Notify (mention) the requester using {{ping|REQUESTER_USERNAME}}.
  • You can:
    • point to a pre-existing electronic document by giving its URL ( http://... )
    • share scans of pages or documents using a file-sharing service, provided it is legal
    • upload out of copyright works to Wikimedia Commons and/ or Wikisource (but be careful that this does not breach your own institution's policies)
    • email a link or plain text to a requester using the Special:EmailUser feature but for attachments, you need to ask them to mail you first so you can reply.

Copyright tips:

  • Respect copyrights and terms of services of any online services you use.
  • Share content in a limited manner that is targeted at as few individuals as possible to achieve a specific improvement on Wikipedia. All content is shared under a presumed non-commercial, educational, fair use purpose in order to conduct research about topics on Wikipedia and/or to improve Wikipedia content.
  • Share copies privately rather than with a publicly accessible link whenever possible. Copyrighted articles from print publications or copies obtained through online databases should not be uploaded for unrestricted distribution via open websites. Preferably, do not share login access codes for entire websites; rather, share only an individual copy of a resource.
  • Remember that you take on the individual risk when sharing content, and act in a way that is comfortable and safe for you. Individual editors are solely responsible for sharing copyrighted content and assume all legal risks.

For Leroy Chollet

I'm looking for any information on Leroy Chollet from this book. The Amazon blurb and a book review[1] both note that he is covered but not which pages. The publisher may also be listed as Canisius College Press or Buffalo Heritage Press.

Central High School Yearbooks (Bridgeport, Connecticut)[edit]

  • 1982 Central High School Yearbook (may have "Criterion" on cover). Bridgeport, Connecticut: Unknown. 1982. p. Unknown.
  • 1985 Central High School Yearbook (may have "Criterion" on cover). Bridgeport, Connecticut: Unknown. 1985. p. Unknown.

For Michael Jai White, to confirm year of high school graduation and supporting evidence to determine whether 1964 or 1967 is correct year of birth. Specifically looking for any mentions or photographs of "Michael White", "Mike White", or "Michael Jai White" matching the subject of the article. Also see discussion on Talk:Michael Jai White.

Thanks, Daniel Quinlan (talk) 17:54, 3 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Updated to include request for 1982 as well. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 17:54, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Daniel Quinlan, I was in the middle of writing a long and probably unhelpful response regarding the yearbooks, but then I realized there's a much easier way to do this: just check his social media, which is a reliable source for this purpose per WP:BLPSELFPUB. And indeed, his website says he was born November 10, and this Facebook post says he celebrated his 50th birthday in 2017. That settles it, I think. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 03:29, 23 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I think 1967 is probably the correct year based on several published sources I found, but another editor was not convinced due to the Associated Press providing the 1964 date. Talk:Michael Jai White § Birth year has the discussion. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 03:56, 23 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Daniel Quinlan If you still need these it will likely be hard for any editor to access unless they live in Bridgeport. have you considered emailing the local library? They may be able to help out more than us. But I do think @Extraordinary Writ's response is likely more than sufficient for what you need. Eddie891 Talk Work 16:09, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • Daniel Quinlan, as Eddie891 said, the local library is probably your best bet. Indeed, they maintain a collection of yearbooks. While it doesn't look like it includes the ones in question, there's a good chance they can help you. You might also try calling the school; there's a decent shot their library includes the yearbooks. --Usernameunique (talk) 02:40, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Cimarron Memorial High School Yearbook(Las Vegas, Nevada)[edit]

  • 1994 Cimarron Memorial High School. Las Vegas, Nevada: unknown. 1994. p. unknown.

For Charlene Amoia. This actress has two different DOBs listed online. Some have 1976 and some have 1982. In an interview she says the college she went to was UNLV. The 1998 UNLV yearbook lists her having received her BS degree that year which makes the 1976 birth year more likely to be the correct one. On classmates.com, a classmate that graduated from that school in 1994, mentions in her bio that she went to high school with Amoia. Unfortunately there's no yearbook there for 1994. So I'm asking here to confirm and have more supporting evidence that 1976 is the accurate birth year. See Talk:Charlene Amoia

Thanks, Kcj5062 (talk) 23:09, 8 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Kcj5062, yearbooks are quite difficult to track down. But you might try emailing the school's librarian, as there's a decent shot that the library has a copy. --Usernameunique (talk) 02:44, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Physical magazines, etc[edit]

Hello, I am looking to access physical magazines that are not online. So I could be able to read what was said to improve my draft:Edward Hayter.

  • Evening Standard (November 2014)
  • Schön magazine (2015)
  • Galeries Lafayette (2019)
  • Lebvia trouville (2019)
  • Juste magazine (2019)
  • Sphere (2020)
  • Thyme England (2021)
  • Country Life Magazine (oct 2022)
  • Flash Model turkey Kip (2022)

Also I don't know if they may be archived articles about these works. So I rather add them in case there were articles made who then got deleted/archived and cannot be found.

- commercial:

  • Tictac Deutsch 2017
  • Castello Di Reschio 2018
  • Samsung flex your way 2021
  • Genesis GV60 2022
  • Porsche 911 S/T 60 anniversary 2023

- music videos

  • Love song by Jagga 2012
  • Cocoon by Catfish and the Bottlemen 2014
  • Darkest Hours by Memtrix and Spor 2015

He also appeared live in London Live for Burning Men in September 28 2019 but since its in the past live on TV I cannot access it.

If anyone could help me find these or anything else I haven't said that is related to Edward Hayter that isnt online anymore I would be very thankful.

Thanks, Veganpurplefox (talk) 19:39, 13 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Veganpurplefox, as to the magazines, are there particular articles in them that you're aware of? Or do you just think it's possible that there might be an article about Hayter in them? --Usernameunique (talk) 01:50, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

"George Griffith, From Jules Verne to Tranquility Base" in Around the World in 65 Days with George Griffith: The Story of the Real Phileas Fogg[edit]

  • Godwin, Robert (2010). "George Griffith, From Jules Verne to Tranquility Base". Around the World in 65 Days with George Griffith: The Story of the Real Phileas Fogg. ISBN 978-1-897350-27-0.

For George Griffith. I don't know the page numbers, unfortunately. The book is probably listed as by Griffith in any indices. Apart from the essay by Godwin, there is apparently also one by John Griffith called "George Griffith's Legacy to Real Science: The Career of A. A. Griffith" that would likewise be nice to have but probably not crucial.

Thanks in advance. TompaDompa (talk) 04:18, 18 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

For The Moxy Show

The first citation is a bit of a weird request. I can already preview the one time where The Moxy Show is mentioned on page 211. What I actually want is its reference. After the sentence where The Moxy Show is mentioned, there is a superscript "3" that indicates the third footnote of the chapter, pointing to a reference. However, said reference is located in a section of "Chapter Notes" that I cannot preview. If I can look at the reference, I might be able to continue my research.

The second citation is one already used in the article above. However, the link does not contain the full text. In fact, the link is dead, and the archived link requires one to purchase the source to read it. I feel like this article could have information about the show's premise and production.

The third citation is even more elusive. There is very little information about this particular issue of Animation Magazine, and it doesn't allow readers to preview it. The only reason why I want this source is because I am having a very difficult time finding sources about The Moxy Show's third and final iteration, The Moxy & Flea Show, which only had one episode, and the preview text from the search results says "The Moxy and Flea Show debuts on the USA Networks."

Thanks, Lazman321 (talk) 01:15, 19 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I have added an additional source I would like to see the full text. The last sentence of the abstract on ProQuest says, "Just so you know, Flea was added to the show at the request of kids who thought Moxy should have a sidekick." I am curious if the article expands on this considering how little information there is about Flea. Lazman321 (talk) 20:34, 20 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Lazman321: I can't read the Google Search result for your request #3, Animation magazine. Please define what you need from it. Thank you – Doc TaxonTalk • 14:16, 22 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Doc Taxon: So sorry, I do not know which article it's from other than the article might be about cable networks and is likely located on page 14. The quote I found you can see by searching on Google Books "the moxy and flea show" in quotes. To help with your search, the page does say the magazine was archived in the University of Michigan. Lazman321 (talk) 03:44, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Lazman321:Yes Sent 1,2,4. 2 days Arhi twi (talk) 15:58, 22 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Lazman321, did you get those three articles? Is #3 ("TBD") the only one remaining? --Usernameunique (talk) 04:20, 25 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes, I got those three articles. If you guys cannot find #3, it can be marked as resolved. Lazman321 (talk) 13:06, 25 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Lazman321, Google Books will frequently help out with information such as page and issue numbers. At the bottom of the Google Books page (in the classic view), click "Report an issue," then select "I have questions or feedback about books." Then ask which issue/article/page the language "the moxy and flea" is from. Let us know what they say. --Usernameunique (talk) 09:34, 27 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

"George Griffith – Warrior of If" in "The Raid of 'Le Vengeur'" and Other Stories[edit]

For George Griffith. I requested this previously, see WP:WikiProject Resource Exchange/Resource Request/Archive 146#George Griffith – The Warrior of If, and was alerted to Moskowitz's "War: Warriors of If" in Strange Horizons: The Spectrum of Science Fiction (1976), which is available via the Internet Archive. It turns out that these two essays are not identical, and there is a fair amount of information in the earlier essay that is not present in the later one. See also my request for other material in the same book at #George Griffith bibliography from "The Raid of 'Le Vengeur'" and Other Stories.

Thanks in advance. TompaDompa (talk) 00:34, 21 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I have this source but the two requests together are 50-odd pages... That's over 1/3 of the book, and all of Moskowitz's own writing. I'm not sure I feel comfortable that it wouldn't violate copyright to send that much. Eddie891 Talk Work 17:45, 11 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hm. I don't know how to move forward with that concern. I mean, I would only request the stuff that differs from the 1976 version of the essay (which is as I said earlier freely accessible via the Internet Archive), but of course I can't know what the differences are without comparing them side-by-side. What little I am able to glean from Google Books snippets confirms both that there are large portions that are identical and that there is a fair amount of information that is only in the 1974 version. The snippets have thus far been rather helpful to expanding the article in preparation for a future WP:Featured article nomination, so I expect that the rest of the material would be as well. Ping Eddie891. TompaDompa (talk) 05:10, 20 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

List of recipients of Order of King Abdulaziz[edit]

This is an unusual request, and I'm sorry that I can't provide a citation or requested work. But I think this is still the best place to ask. Does someone have access to a list of recipients of Order of King Abdulaziz? One would think that the King Saud library here would have it, but it doesn't seem so. Thanks! Possible book section request[edit]

Hi all, and happy weekend RXers. Can anyone get hold of this (Evil-Doer: Half a Century with Viktor Korchnoi by Genna Sosonko) and have a quick look either at the contents or index and see if there's a section on the 1978 chess championship against Karpov? Hopefully it's easier than I make it sound! ISBN 9785950043383.

Cheers! SN54129 16:51, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

According to this review[2] it does discuss the 1978 match. There is also a movie about that match called "Closing Gambit", that I haven't watched. 2601:644:8501:AAF0:4043:7961:893C:EC1 (talk) 22:30, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@:EC1, thanks for the book review that's interesting. Funnily enough, I watched the documentary last night. Not bad, but they spend the first half on introductory context and so have to skip over the tasty stuff—x-raying chairs, blueberry yoghurts, etc.—later on quite lightly, which is a shame. Evening Standard article from 1965 (may need microfilm search)[edit]

Hi, I'm looking for a copy or full transcript of a 1965 Evening Standard article which I believe is titled "IT'S THE GHOST OF LILLIE LANGTRY - AS QUEER THINGS HAPPEN IN HER OLD HOME". I am told the date of the article is April 2, 1965. One exact quote I've seen attributed several times to it is "Langtry's ghost appeared one day".

Article being improved: Lillie Langtry.

My email address is softlavenderwiki@gmail.com

Many thanks!

Softlavender (talk) 02:03, 4 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Evening Standard is part of the Newspapers.com collection, but I was unable to find a piece like that in the 2 April 1965 paper. Searches for Langtry in that year did not turn up the relevant article. Maybe there was a special that day? Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 04:01, 4 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah, I had tried and failed on Newspapers.com as well, which is why I came here for other sources. Apparently there are other archives available for the Evening Standard, and apparently it is also viewable on microfilm in libraries such as the British Library, St. Pancras, London. Softlavender (talk) 04:10, 4 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Something to consider is that everyone is simply repeating Hans Holzer's claim from The great British ghost hunt that there was such an article. fiveby(zero) 16:26, 4 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
We also have an editor saying they read it. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 16:33, 4 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Our article seems to suggest that the Evening Standard printed as many as six editions per day, so I'm guessing this was from one of the other ones. ("In the days before commercial broadcasting ...a given edition could be your only source for a particular piece of information.") I'm not sure whether all the editions have been digitized yet, but if not, microfilm may be the only option. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 16:58, 4 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Extraordinary Writ, should I note in the header of this thread that microfilm copy is desired? Softlavender (talk) 01:10, 5 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Up to you—I don't think it makes too much of a difference. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 07:29, 5 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
We have two editors that 'claim' to have read it: AnthonyCamp, who is a professional researcher, author, and genealogist (but may have erred in his recent recollection of its contents), and Inspector Colombo, who is a disruptive and combative newbie determined to disprove experienced editors and who claims to have read the library microfilm and posted the article contents on a now-archived talkpage. I would like to get a bona fide copy of the article to prove or disprove what each of those editors says, so the wiki article can be corrected if necessary. Softlavender (talk) 01:06, 5 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
A couple of things in passing—the Evening Standard regularly (mis)spelt Lillie as Lily (e.g.)—of which IIRC her grandaughter wrote in and complained of—which might alter your search. Also, there's this Times article. SN54129 13:10, 5 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks SN; we're aware of the Times article; and the Evening Standard spelled Lillie's name right in the headline but wrong in the body copy of the article in question, as far as I can tell (if the newbie editor is to be believed). That's why the quote I suggested in my OP only includes her last name. Softlavender (talk) 05:15, 6 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Jo-Jo Eumerus: To be exact, the proper title is "Berichte zur Polar- und Meeresforschung" as of 2000 (ISSN 1866-3192). I assume the source for your quotation is this, where the title is marked as "in press". However, in AWI's repository archive no such title is to be found, not in 2003 nor later, nor any similar title by the authors cited. Therefore it seems that this report may in fact have never been published. You may want to contact the Alfred-Wegener-Institut directly for confirmation. @Eddie891 and BilledMammal: That's a shame about the index. I believe the book breaks the history of club into five‑year sections. I think Leslie Hood should appear in the section from 1896–1900 (he played for the club until 1902) and probably features in the team photograph for those years. I think there are around twenty team photographs in the book so that might help locate the right section. There is also a separate section on the club's annual dinners, written by Mark Waters, where Hood may be mentioned (apparently, Hood was also involved in the club's administration). I did not know this service existed and I think it is fantastic that you have managed to locate a copy of the book. Thank you very much to both of you. Doing a search again, I can't track down where the issue 4 part came from, just that it is in volume 1. My apologies. SilverTiger12 (talk) 21:15, 5 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Susan Pevensie: would like to confirm source exists[edit]

  • Barbara D. Wheatley, "The Lasting Legacy of C.S. Lewis" in Edward Cantor (ed.) Multidisciplinary Round Table on Twentieth Century Children's Literature

For Susan Pevensie, which contains an extensive quotation from Wheatly but no other bibliographic info other than the above. Would like the publication year, page number, maybe even the publisher name, so the article has a full citation, and people have an easier time verifying the source and info. I've tried to find this source myself to no avail, alas. Thanks, Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 03:54, 8 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Rotideypoc41352, this looks like a hoax to me: I can't find anything on Google, WorldCat, the Internet Archive, etc. resembling such a book, or indeed any evidence "Barbara D. Wheatley" exists. Note this was added in 2019 by an IP with no other contributions. Unless there's something I'm missing, I'd suggest just removing the quote. Greek biography of Panagiotis Stamatakis[edit]

  • Petrakos, Vasileios H. (2022). Παναγιωτης Α. Σταματακης : βιος και εργο [Panagiotis A. Stamatakis: Life and Work]. Athens: Archaeological Society of Athens. ISBN 9786185047672. OCLC 1370302528.

For Panagiotis Stamatakis. This is a bit of an odd request: I have completely drawn a blank as to how I would get hold of this book: OCLC has a few copies available in US university libraries, but those are a bit far to go from northern England.

If anyone is somehow able to access it and scan any part (the early parts up to 1876 are likely to be the most use: I would suspect that anything about Mycenae/Μυκηναι is duplicated elsewhere: equally, later material after 1878 is fairly hard to come by at present). Alternatively, if someone can track down a possible route to getting eyes on it in the UK, would be much obliged.

1906 article in Arts and Crafts[edit]

For Herbert Maryon

According to the below article, The March number of "Arts and Crafts" is, as usual, full of articles which are intended to provide students and art workers with useful information on a variety of subjects in which they are interested. The most important of these articles are "Various Methods of Finishing Oak," by Mr. W. Daniell; "Metal Work," by Mr. H. J. Maryon; "Practical Talks about Wood-Carving," by Mr. H. Turner; "Inlaying," by Mr. A[rthur] C[awdron] Horth; and "Bookbinding," by Mr. F. Sangorski and Mr. G. Sutcliffe. Among the more notable illustrations are reproductions of drawings by Henner, E. Detaille, and Feyen Perrin.

The starting point is to figure out what journal this is—a task not helped by its generic name. There's a good chance that this is a small journal that didn't last long. The article would be Maryon's second published work that I'm aware of, five months after "Early Irish Metal Work", in another small journal. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Usernameunique (talk) 01:42, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

1990 Journal of American Musical Instrument Society article[edit]

  • Wilson Barry (1990) ‘The Lodewyk Theewes Claviorganum and its Position in the History of Keyboard Instruments’, Journal of the American Musical Instrument Society, xvi (1990), pp. 5–41.

Copyright inquiry on Claviorgan. Thank you, Sennecaster (Chat) 23:52, 25 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sennecaster, assuming no one finds it sooner, I can try to get this for you (either today or early next week), but 37 pages is a bit much to scan. Would it be fine if I just checked for any copyright problems myself? Alternatively I can send you a smaller chunk (e.g. the pages surrounding p. 38, which is what the article cites). Extraordinary Writ (talk) 07:04, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Extraordinary Writ; I do agree it is a lot. It would be fine if you checked for problems yourself, but take your time. Thank you for offering! Sennecaster (Chat) 16:25, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sennecaster, I took a look and everything seems fine from a copyright perspective. The cited claim ("Wilson Barry cites references to the claviorganum in England dating back to the 1530s") corresponds to "There is mention of several sixteenth century English claviorgans...in 1530 William Lewes, of London, delivered two claviorgana to King Henry VIII..." on p. 38. The rest of the article (mainly about the Theewes claviorganum) doesn't seem to have been used at all in writing the Wikipedia article. Hope this helps. Citations from old Art and living magazines[edit]

Hello. I'm trying to determine whether there are enough sources to save Richard Whitney (artist). At present the article has no citations at all, but it does quote from Town & Country (magazine) and Fine Art Connoisseur, though without detailed citations. The subject has provided me with more useful citations, but I can't find those articles online (I can find the issue of Fine Art Connoiseur in archive.com, but not the article). I can't see a resource in WP:LIBRARY that looks promising. I've put all the information I have in the citations: I realise it's incomplete, and I will be asking the subject for more info (see WP:HD#Author request deletions on my Gallery at Richard Whitney (artist)). Anybody got access to either of these?
